Yunnan is Chinese province well-known for producing excellent black tea containing fat golden buds. Our 100% Organic Yunnan Black Tea has a high concentration of these golden buds. The taste is smooth and slightly sugary and the aftertaste is refreshing and clear.
In ancient times the central area of Yunnan was named “Dian”. So the name Dian Hong means “Yunnan Black tea”.
Yunnan black teas may have different flavor and appearance. Some grades have more golden buds giving lighter brew with very sweet and gentle aroma without astringency, soothing and refreshing. Others make a darker, brown brew that is bright, uplifting and slightly sharp. It is possible to add milk to this tea (a longer steeping time is needed to acquire enough astringency to balance the milk taste).
To achieve the best results infusing this tea is recommended to use boiling water. Take about 2 tsp (3 g) of tea leaves for about every 5 oz (150 ml) of water. Steep for about 3-5 minutes with more or less time depending on the desired concentration.
