Special type of tea made by combining Sencha green tea with toasted rice, very popular in Japan

Description

Genmaicha is a combination of Sencha green tea with roasted rice. This kind of green tea is very popular in Japan. The name Genmaicha generally means “brown rice tea.” Genmai Cha is well-known for its unique roasted flavor.
Sencha tea has more strong flavor comparing with some other kinds of green tea. It is harvested in spring and steamed immediately after picking. After it is dried by hot air before being pan roasted. The leaves of Sencha are tightly furled and have a slightly bittersweet flavor which suits well to roasted rice. Tea liquor steeped from these tea leaves has a light yellow shade. The flavor is mild and combines the fresh grassy flavor of green tea with the aroma of roasted rice. Its special smooth and mild flavor comes from a harmonious blend of young tea leaves and roasted brown rice.
It is body-friendly and an ideal beverage for a Macrobiotic diet. Brown rice tea contains flavonoids, antioxidants, trace minerals and vitamins. Researches confirms that drinking Genmaicha provides many health benefits and helps prevent diseases, due to the beneficial polyphenols in the tea.
